Top 7 Business List of Ways to Close Out the Year

The following is a checklist of things to do at the end of the year in order to continue to grow and develop in one's overall health and well-being.

1. For your career growth: read Robert Kelly's book "How to be a Star at Work." Nine skills to make you stand out and contribute.
   
   
2. For your business growth: read Tom Peters' book "The Brand You 50." Branding can't apply to you? Think again. Then find someone who can guide you through putting his stuff to work. Even Peters says you don't have to do it all, but there is so darn much!
   
   
3. For your life: re-examine your goals list and cull it down to three or four that really matter and work seriously to accomplish them. Your to-do list is not your goal list.
   
   
4. For your overall growth: start to assemble your personal support team consisting of family, friends, co-workers, mentors, coaches and anyone else who can help you. Build the team before you need them.
   
   
5. For your health: start, today, before the first of the year, with a simple plan of daily walking and deep breathing.
   
   
6. For your mental health: laugh heartily at the sights and sounds that give you pleasure during the holiday season.
   
   
7. For your spiritual growth: make an anonymous donation of toys for tots, or gifts for the elderly confined to rest homes, or food for the hungry. Better the toy or the gift or the food than the money. If you just can't give the item, they can still use the money. Want a real rush? Help deliver the items.
   
   Near as I can tell, we still have about two weeks to accomplish something from last year's resolution list. Wouldn't that be a great way to build momentum for the new year!
   Do all this and you will get the new year off to a running start.
