In 2015, just in the United States, $11 billion was spent on teeth whitening, including around $1.4 billion on at-home whitening products. There are many options when it comes to whitening your teeth. But most of them use chemicals to bleach your teeth, which may be a concern for some people. In this article, we will explore some natural and safe ways to whiten your teeth without the use of chemicals.

  1. Oil Pulling

    Oil pulling is a technique which removes bacteria from your mouth, that can turn into plaque, causing your teeth to look yellow. Take some oil, swish it around in your mouth. Coconut oil is usually a popular choice since it has a pleasant taste.

  2. Brush With Baking Soda

    Baking soda is a popular ingredient in many toothpastes because it has natural whitening properties. Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 teaspoons of water and use the paste to brush your teeth, doing so a few times a week.

  3. Use Hydrogen Peroxide

    Not only will hydrogen peroxide kill the bacteria in your mouth, it is a natural bleaching agent as well. You can use it as a mouthwash before brushing your teeth. Just make sure you dilute it with water to avoid any side effects.

  4. Use Apple Cider Vinegar

    Apple cider vinegar has been used as a disinfectant and natural cleaning product for a long time now. It has antibacterial properties that will help to whiten your teeth. But don’t overuse it since it can erode the enamel on your teeth if used constantly.

  5. Use Fruits and Vegetables

    Not only are fruits and vegetables good for you body, they also help to whiten your teeth. Raw fruits and vegetables help to rub plaque away as you chew them. Strawberries and pineapples are specifically the two fruits that have been claimed to help the most.

  6. Prevent Tooth Stains Before They Happen

    Your teeth will naturally get yellow with age, but there are things you can do to minimize this. Try to limit staining foods and beverages such as coffee, red wine, soda and dark berries. Increased calcium intake will help to protect your teeth from enamel erosion. While reducing your sugar intake will help to keep your teeth whiter.

  7. Don’t Forget to Brush and Floss

    Brushing and flossing is something we should be doing daily. It helps our teeth to stay white by removing bacteria and preventing plaque. Regular dental cleanings will also help our teeth to stay clean and white.
